GMEX Group Wins Best Development in FinTech of the Year

LONDON, Nov 28, 2022 - (ACN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - GMEX Group ('GMEX'), a leader in digital business and technology solutions for capital markets, is proud to announce that it has been awarded Best Development in FinTech of the Year by Crypto AM for its GMEX Pyctor institutional-grade digital assets technology. These coveted awards are judged by an independent, expert panel of industry leaders. GMEX competed with other finalists including Revolut to win.GMEX Pyctor ('Pyctor') was acquired earlier this year by GMEX after being successfully incubated in ING Neo's innovation lab. It has been jointly developed in collaboration with multiple blue-chip financial institutions (both asset managers and banks) and regulators. This leading fintech provides regulatory compliant digital assets network and digital custody technology, and is designed for firms operating in regulated environments. It offers highly secure digital custody and transactional network services for a broad range of digital assets, as well as delivering interoperability between permissioned and public blockchains.GMEX Group is in its tenth anniversary year. While its business started in traditional finance, developing exchange matching engines, clearing, settlement and custodial solutions, the firm was early to get involved in the digital assets space in 2017 with the subsequent launch of the GMEX Fusion, a unique centralised and distributed ledger market infrastructure suite for exchanges and post trade operators. It now has multiple solutions as part of an overall technology fabric, including its MultiHub 'network of networks' service, which interfaces with Pyctor, removing the need to integrate with multiple trading parties, trading venues and digital custodians. Sitting at that intersection, GMEX is a hybrid finance specialist, addressing the interoperability issues experienced in the market to bridge traditional and digital assets activity aligned with current and evolving regulations.Hirander Misra, CEO of GMEX Group said: "The current environment will lead to increased regulations and an institutional digital flight to quality, creating a need for an offering which makes it easier navigate this with the right governance, control, security and risk management."He continued, "GMEX Group is the first company to offer an end-to-end multi-asset, multi-sector Hybrid Finance solution designed for regulated environments, which bridges the gap between off-chain Traditional Finance (TradFi), Centralized Finance (CeFi) and on-chain Decentralized Finance (DeFi) across jurisdictions. We are pioneering in the domain of Hybrid Finance (HyFi) and are thrilled to have our success in developing unique solutions to address industry challenges formally recognised with this highly prestigious award."Media Contact:GMEX GroupHelen DisneyThe Realization Group Tel: +44 (0)7792 376 546Helen.disney@therealizationgroup.compr@gmex-group.com Copyright 2022 ACN Newswire. Late heartbreak for TOYOTA GAZOO Racing in dramatic season finale

TOKYO, Nov 14, 2022 - (JCN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team experienced late heartbreak in its goal of closing out the 2022 FIA World Rally Championship season with a victory at home in Japan.Car 1 (Sebastien Ogier, Vincent Landais)The return of Rally Japan to the WRC calendar for the first time since 2010 was highly challenging for teams, drivers and co-drivers, with an entirely new event held on demanding and twisting asphalt roads in the mountains of the Aichi and Gifu prefectures. The GR YARIS Rally1 HYBRID performed strongly from the beginning, and would win 11 out of 16 stages over the weekend. Unfortunately, a handful of small incidents on the tricky roads proved costly in terms of time and ultimately ended the team's chances of victory.Elfyn Evans produced one of his strongest performances of the season to fight for the victory down to the final day, which he began only four seconds from the lead ahead of a long loop of five stages totalling 69.82 kilometres. In the day's first stage he reduced that gap to just 0.6s with a fourth stage win of the weekend for himself and co-driver Scott Martin. However, in the next test they had to stop and change a wheel and tyre after running wide in a downhill right-hander, dropping them to fourth overall. This misfortune for Evans did promote Takamoto Katsuta into third position on his home rally in his TGR WRT Next Generation entry. Heavy rain hit for the final two stages of the event but Katsuta safely made it through the treacherous conditions to clinch a special podium finish, his second of the season together with co-driver Aaron Johnston.Sebastien Ogier showed excellent speed all weekend with his new co-driver Vincent Landais, and may have won had the pair not dropped 2m44s in Friday's first stage where they had to stop and replace a tyre. Fastest of all through both Saturday and Sunday's legs, Ogier fought back from last position to finish fourth overall ahead of Evans, only 2m24s from the winner and taking five stage wins along the way. After a record-breaking season where he became the youngest ever WRC champion, Kalle Rovanpera was also in the fight for victory until Saturday morning when he slid wide in one corner and made contact with a wall, forcing he and co-driver Jonne Halttunen to also stop and change a wheel. After losing significant time, they treated the rest of the rally as a valuable opportunity to test different car setups for the event's unique characteristics.Quotes:Jari-Matti Latvala (Team Principal)"In the end we did not have the weekend that we wanted to have here at Rally Japan. We can see that we had the speed as Seb was probably the fastest driver through the event and Elfyn was leading for much of the rally. It was just these incidents for each driver which were unfortunately counting against us. The stages here were very demanding and so narrow, so it was easy for these things to happen. At the end of this season we can be very satisfied to have reached our goals by winning all three championships, which is fantastic. Winning the home rally of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing would have been very special, but to have Taka on the podium of his home event feels almost just as good. In rallying, every event is bringing a different challenge and you cannot win every one."Sebastien Ogier (Driver car 1)"It was a challenging end to the rally today with the rain which we knew was coming. It was a tough tyre choice this morning with some stages to be driven in the dry and some in the wet so we had to go with a compromise. I think we had the correct choice overall as we were fastest again over the day. It's been a good weekend in terms of the performance and speed we showed again this weekend, and the first time with Vincent who has done a perfect job. Of course it would have been even better if we were rewarded with the result that I think we deserved, but some bad luck hit us again this weekend. We are all happy to see Taka on the podium at home and it's been great to have so much support here in Japan."Elfyn Evans (Driver car 33)"Naturally I'm massively disappointed about today. It's been a tough season personally and we had a chance here and threw everything at it. Today started really well, we had a good rhythm in the car and things were working well. But on the second stage we ran marginally wide and damaged the tyre. It was a big penalty for a small error but that's the nature of the game. It's really busy on the stages here so it was easily done. After that the battle for the win was over and then the rain came and the tyres we had left were not optimal for that. I'm really happy for Taka to be on the podium at his home event: He's worked hard all year and really deserves it."Kalle Rovanpera (Driver car 69)"This has been a tough rally and a challenging one just as we expected. It didn't go our way this weekend but sometimes it's like this. The main thing is we got to the end of the rally and learned some things for the future. Again we were using today as a test day and we wanted to keep the balance with the tyres consistent for the dry stages so that we could try some more things with the setup. I think we made a positive step and found some things which were nice to drive and at least we know the direction for the future. Overall we've had a really good season so we can be very happy with that and thanks to the team and everybody who made it possible."PROVISIONAL FINAL CLASSIFICATION, RALLY JAPAN1 Thierry Neuville/Martijn Wydaeghe (Hyundai i20 N Rally1 HYBRID) 2h43m52.3s2 Ott Tanak/Martin Jarveoja (Hyundai i20 N Rally1 HYBRID) +1m11.1s3 Takamoto Katsuta/Aaron Johnston (Toyota GR YARIS Rally1 HYBRID) +2m11.3s4 Sebastien Ogier/Vincent Landais (Toyota GR YARIS Rally1 HYBRID) +2m23.6s5 Elfyn Evans/Scott Martin (Toyota GR YARIS Rally1 HYBRID) +4m05.1s6 Gus Greensmith/Jonas Andersson (Ford Puma Rally1 HYBRID) +4m07.4s7 Gregoire Munster/Louis Louka (Hyundai i20 N Rally2) +7m50.8s8 Teemu Suninen/Mikko Markkula (Hyundai i20 N Rally2) +8m12.4s9 Emil Lindholm/Reeta Hamalainen (Skoda Fabia Rally2 evo) +8m25.6s10 Heikki Kovalainen/Sae Kitagawa (Skoda Fabia Rally2 evo) +8m59.8s11 Kalle Rovanpera/Jonne Halttunen (Toyota GR YARIS Rally1 HYBRID) +10m40.8s(Results as of 15:30 on Sunday, for the latest results please visit www.wrc.com)For more information, visit https://toyotagazooracing.com/wrc/release/2022/rd13-day4/. We need to talk about cybersecurity in hybrid IT

MANILA, Jul 15, 2022 - (ACN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - It is imperative to take the required measures and have the appropriate protections in any hybrid work environment due to the rise in the usage of personal devices for work, network access through insecure connections, and targeted phishing efforts. The danger of a breach will grow with the adoption of a hybrid working model, even with appropriate cybersecurity safeguards for remote workers in place.Mr. Chito Jacinto, Vice President of ISOG and Board Member of ISACA Manila, gave some of his insights on growing cybersecurity in a hybrid environment. In our interview, he used the banking industry as an example of how organisational structures and accountability must adapt in order to scale up cybersecurity. As the most highly regulated business in the world, rising regulatory fragmentation can be seen not just from banking regulators but also from overall governmental authorities, making these institutions more exposed to cyber attacks. Mr. Jacinto advised that instead of a fragmented approach by concerned or operational units, a unified organisational or bank-wide strategy in response to cybersecurity-related requirements is required.According to him, a hybrid workplace poses hazards since present IT infrastructures were not built to meet the demands of a hybrid workplace, let alone a totally remote operation. This creates a situation in which multiple users, including both hardware and software security technologies, are not under the authority of the organisation's network.Mr. Chito Jacinto will facilitate an EDXchange session at the DX Leaders Strategy Forum Philippines on August 24-25, 2022. To join his roundtable, invitations are requested at Request Invitation - DX - Philippines 2022 (edxevents.com) (https://philippines2022.edxevents.com/request-invitation/). During his presentation, he expressed, "When we did a survey in partnership with MIT Technology Review, we studied 351 companies around the globe, a third of which were here in APJ, and the number one regret that most data leaders had was that they didn't standardize using open standards. Instead, they chose proprietary capabilities and felt locked into a particular vendor or solution."Microsoft, Databricks, Dataiku, Cloudera, Tech Data, BMC, Aerospike, H2O.ai, Vertica, Domo, Denodo, Snowflake and Fivetran were literally the face of the summit as they had their own exclusive virtual exhibition booth to showcase their cutting-edge solutions. While enlightening the delegates on Hybrid Data Cloud, Carlos Zorzin (Senior Partner Sales Engineer, Cloudera) commented, "89% of IT-decision makers believe a hybrid cloud environment is the optimal choice to easily and securely store and move data as well as manage workloads. In order to achieve that, companies need a data platform that lets them easily move data and workloads from private clouds, to public clouds, and even to the edge - with scale. That's Hybrid Data Cloud."When asked about the response from the delegates, Sudhir Jena, the organizer and CEO of Tradepass said, "Bytes 2022 - ASEAN delighted the 1000+ delegates with the top-line of solution providers and experts from the public & private domain and the delegates had very insightful interactions including Q&As with the experts. HKTDC: 93% of international buyers used online sourcing platforms during pandemic

HONG KONG, Apr 20, 2022 - (ACN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant disruption to global sourcing patterns. According to a new survey commissioned by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Research, the vast majority of international buyers (93%) have used online sourcing platforms since the pandemic began, with more than 85% attending virtual fairs to meet their sourcing needs. However, most buyers surveyed said they would prefer to source via physical fairs (63%) or hybrid fairs (59%) once travel restrictions are lifted.HKTDC Director of Research Irina Fan said physical fairs and hybrid fairs are the future as the two formats can complement each other.HKTDC's Irina Fan - hybrid and physical fairs are complementaryCommenting on the findings of the survey, HKTDC Director of Research Irina Fan said: "The survey reflects that more buyers have been choosing to purchase online due to the pandemic. However, this makes it difficult to perform tasks such as product examination and evaluation as well as supplier authentication. We believe that physical fairs and hybrid fairs are the future, with the two complementing each other."The HKTDC commissioned independent research institution Ipsos to conduct the study, titled "B2B Online Sourcing: A Buyer Behaviour Study Towards Recovery", between May and October 2021, interviewing about 600 international buyers from Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, Australia, Europe, Mainland China and the United States to gauge their views on international sourcing patterns following the onset of the pandemic.According to the survey, 93% of respondents said they had used online sourcing platforms during the past 12 months where they conducted more than 60% of their sourcing on average; 43% said they had engaged more suppliers than they did prior to the pandemic using online sourcing platforms; 46% said they had sourced a wider variety of products; 42% said they had sourced more frequently; and 44% said the average value per order had increased.Top three reasons to use online sourcing platformsMs Fan said that there are three top reasons for buyers to use online sourcing platforms, namely, to search for new suppliers and make enquiries (70%), to compare products and prices (66%), and to identify the latest product trends (57%). "In the wake of the pandemic, many industries are committed to organising virtual fairs to strengthen the connection between international buyers and suppliers. These events have been well received by the industry, with the survey showing that more than 85% of buyers surveyed had participated in virtual fairs in 2021."In addition, buyers rated the overall effectiveness of online sourcing through web platforms, websites, mobile apps and virtual meetings at an average of 7.4 out of 10, seeing them as fairly effective overall. When asked about the main pain points associated with using online sourcing platforms, 61% of respondents said it was the inability to examine products physically, while other major barriers were the risk of fraud (56%), insufficient product details and images (54%), unresponsive suppliers (49%) and uncertified products (49%).Can virtual fairs supersede physical fairs?Regarding future sourcing preferences, 63% of buyers responding in the survey said they would prefer to source via physical fairs while 59% of buyers would prefer hybrid fairs once travel restrictions are lifted. Among the buyers surveyed, those from Mainland China and ASEAN countries expressed most enthusiasm for hybrid fairs, followed by buyers from Europe, the United States and Australia.Ms Fan pointed out that while international buyers have accepted virtual fairs out of necessity, and reduced travel costs and other expenses associated with attending physical fairs, the general consensus remains that virtual fairs will not supersede physical fairs. Physical and virtual fairs both have their own merits, and hybrid fairs that combine the two formats will continue to be another choice for international buyers. The survey also showed that buyers who prefer hybrid fairs were more likely to register a higher average spend per order (in the range of US$50,000-$100,000+) compared with counterparts who prefer physical or virtual fairs. This suggests that hybrid fairs could be well positioned to facilitate more lucrative business opportunities.Ms Fan added that the key digital features buyers would like to see at hybrid fairs include the ability to easily search and acquire exhibitor information, scheduling meetings with exhibitors before, during and after the physical tradeshow, and having access to useful communication tools such as instant messaging, file sharing and business card sharing. Other services such as seminar livestreaming and recordings, virtual meetings, and artificial intelligence-enabled exhibitor as well as product recommendations were also sought-after features of great benefit to buyers and exhibitors alike.Main survey findings- Buyers who used online sourcing platforms in the past 12 monthsYes 93%No 7%- Buyers who joined virtual fairs in the past 12 monthsYes 85.5%No 14.5%- Buyers' sourcing preferences in post-COVID-19 eraPhysical fairs 63%Hybrid fairs 59%Virtual fairs 37%Online sourcing platforms 21%- Change in sourcing behaviours due to COVID-19*Variety of products sourced | Number of suppliers engaged | Sourcing frequency | Average value per orderIncreased 46% | 43% | 42% | 44%Remained unchanged 38% | 31% | 30% | 33%Decreased 15% | 26% | 27% | 24%- Top 3 reasons to use online sourcing platformsSearch for new suppliers and make enquiries 70%Compare products and prices 66%Identify the latest product trends 57%- Pain points associated with using online sourcing platformsUnable to examine the products physically 61%Risk of fraud 56%Insufficient product details and photos 54%Unresponsive suppliers 49%Uncertified products 49%* Percentages may not add up to 100% due to rounding.References- HKTDC Research website: http://research.hktdc.com/- International Sourcing for 2022 and Beyond: Insights Into How Buyers and Suppliers Are Optimising Online Sourcing Moving Forward https://research.hktdc.com/en/article/MTAyMTMxMzA5MQ- Photo download: https://bit.ly/3OfdBAZAbout HKTDCThe Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is a statutory body established in 1966 to promote, assist and develop Hong Kong's trade. TOKYO, Mar 21, 2022 - (JCN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - TOYOTA GAZOO Racing started the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with a podium finish from an eventful and ultimately frustrating 1000 Miles of Sebring, which finished early due to a thunderstorm. The GR010 HYBRID Hypercar's 100% winning record was brought to an end at the start of its second season of competition. Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa started the campaign with a podium for second place following a valiant battle in their #8 GR010 HYBRID in a race won by Alpine. But World Champions Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez did not see the chequered flag following an accident shortly before half distance. That put the #7 GR010 HYBRID out of the race, the first time that car has failed to finish since Le Mans 2017.A difficult qualifying left the GR010 HYBRIDs in an unfamiliar grid position, with Sebastien starting fourth and Kamui seventh. That did not last long, however. Within four laps Sebastien moved up to third with Kamui just behind in fourth, joining an all-Hypercar battle for the podium positions. When the two GR010 HYBRIDs made their first pit stops for a fuel top-up just before the hour mark, both overhauled the Glickenhaus. Second-placed Sebastien therefore led the chase of the leading Alpine, with Kamui following in the #7.When the race entered its fourth hour, Jose had closed the gap on Brendon and, on lap 104, he overtook to move into second place. But facing a Balance of Performance deficit to the competition, neither GR010 HYBRID had a chance to challenge for the lead.Midway through the fourth hour, the complexion of the race changed. Jose clashed with a lapped GT car and made contact with the tyre barrier. He attempted to bring the damaged car back to the pits but impacted heavily against the tyre barrier a few corners later, although thankfully he could leave the car unaided and unhurt. The race was red flagged for 34 minutes as a result, which proved to be unfortunate timing for the #8 car. Brendon had to make an emergency fuel stop during the safety car restart before a full pit stop as soon as racing resumed a lap later. Ryo took over the #8 car to make his WEC race debut. He completed an impressive double stint to extend the #8 car's advantage over the third-placed Glickenhaus before Sebastien took over the wheel for a final stint, which began with a full course yellow for debris on track. With just over an hour remaining, the threat of lightening caused a red flag and, despite a brief attempt to restart behind the safety car, the race never resumed. The 2022 season continues in Europe, with the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on 7 May.For more information, visit https://toyotagazooracing.com/wec/release/2022/rd01-race/. Copyright 2022 JCN Newswire. Season starts at Sebring for TOYOTA GAZOO Racing

TOKYO, Mar 8, 2022 - (JCN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - TOYOTA GAZOO Racing will defend its FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) titles with an updated GR010 HYBRID Hypercar, which begins with the 1000 Miles of Sebring in Florida next week where Fujitsu Limited and JFE Steel will join as partners.A successful debut season in 2021 saw the hybrid-powered, 700PS Hypercar win the Le Mans 24 Hours and both World Championships. It returns to action for the six-race 2022 WEC season with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing determined to retain those crowns. The 2022-specification GR010 HYBRID will utilise different tyre and wheel sizes compared to its predecessor. At the front, 12.5 x 18inch magnesium alloy RAYS wheels will hold 29/71-18 Michelin tyres while at the rear, 34/71-18 rubber is fitted to 14 x 18inch wheels. As a result of this change, small modifications were required to the bodywork to maintain air flow and stay within the aerodynamic performance window required by regulations, the most visible being the enlarged rear wind end plates and engine cover fin. While the GR010 HYBRID remains essentially unchanged under the bodywork, the settings of its 3.5litre engine have been adjusted to accommodate new 100% renewable fuel which is introduced to WEC for 2022. The fuel, made from wine residues and agricultural material, reduces CO2 emissions by at least 65% and contributes to ongoing efforts to increase sustainability in motorsport. As well as adjustments to the car for the new season, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing also benefits from a revised management structure. At Sebring, Kamui Kobayashi will participate in his first race in his new dual role, as Team Principal and driver of the #7 GR010 HYBRID, alongside fellow World Champions Mike Conway and Jose Maria Lopez.Kazuki Nakajima began his role of Vice Chairman at TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Europe, the operational base of the WEC team, in January following his retirement as a race driver. He will support team operations at races, as well as mentoring Ryo Hirakawa who joins the #8 line-up of Sebastien Buemi and Brendon Hartley. Ryo, who competed in the LMP2 class at Le Mans in 2016 and 2017, is ready for his first WEC season following comprehensive preparations at tests and in the driving simulator. The team's challenge in WEC is enhanced this season by two new partners, Fujitsu and JFE Steel, whose logos will be prominently displayed on the GR010 HYBRID and driver overalls. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing welcomes Fujitsu and JFE Steel, and extends its sincere thanks to all partners whose loyalty is vital to its success in WEC.The 2022 season officially kicks off with a two-day Prologue test on 12-13 March, which represents the first time for the GR010 HYBRID to drive at the 6.019km Sebring International Raceway, the historic birthplace of American sportscar racing.Race week sees a true festival of endurance racing, when huge crowds gather at the former military airfield to enjoy an eight-hour WEC race on Friday evening, followed on Saturday by the 70th running of the legendary Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, part of the US-based IMSA series.TOYOTA GAZOO Racing's only previous visit to Sebring came in 2019, when a record crowd witnessed Sebastien, Kazuki and Fernando Alonso take victory, with Mike, Kamui and Jose completing a one-two for the TS050 HYBRID. The team targets a repeat of that result to make a perfect start to the 2022 season. For more information, visit https://toyotagazooracing.com/wec/release/2022/rd01-preview/. Celebrations for Toyota Gazoo Racing in Bahrain

TOKYO, Nov 8, 2021 - (JCN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - TOYOTA GAZOO Racing completed its history-making Hypercar season in style with a one-two victory in the 8 Hours of Bahrain on a day of destiny for the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) drivers' crown. An emotional finale to the WEC season saw Kazuki Nakajima bring the curtain down on his glittering endurance career in fitting style with victory in the #8 GR010 HYBRID he shares with Sebastien Buemi and Brendon Hartley.Le Mans winners Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez, in the #7 GR010 HYBRID, retained the drivers' title by finishing Saturday's race, the sixth and final round of the season, in second place.Kamui is now Japan's first two-time World Champion on four wheels while Jose becomes only the second Argentinian to win five FIA World Championships, following in the footsteps of the great Juan Manuel Fangio. Both GR010 HYBRIDs displayed a tribute to Kazuki, who has earned his status as an endurance racing legend by winning Le Mans three times. He took 17 victories from his 59 WEC races and won the 2018-2019 World Championship title alongside Sebastien and Fernando Alonso. On a day of new milestones, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing became the first team to win every race in a WEC season. It extended its unprecedented winning run to nine, in its 70th event since entering the series in 2012. Last week's victory in Bahrain meant it had already secured its fourth teams' World Championship.Despite clean sweeps in all sessions of the Bahrain double-header, the GR010 HYBRIDs played catch-up on the opening laps when the #36 Alpine stole an early lead. But some exciting wheel-to-wheel racing put the GR010 HYBRIDs back in front and they never looked back.As the race moved into the night, the #8 car established an ever-stronger grip at the front, edging clear of the #7. In the sixth hour, the lead was reduced slightly when a replacement steering wheel was required for the #8, following occasional gearshift issues. That cost only a few seconds at a scheduled pit stop, which rectified the problem.Kazuki took the wheel of the #8 car for the final stint, and his last laps in WEC. A journey which started with the roll-out of the TS030 HYBRID in January 2012, ended when Kazuki took the chequered flag to win by 7.351secs from Jose, whose second place delivered another world title to the #7 crew. The racing season may have ended but the action in Bahrain continues on Sunday, when seven-time World Rally Champion Sebastien Ogier will drive a GR010 HYBRID for the first time in the WEC rookie test. Rising LMP2 star Charles Milesi will also test for the team. For more information, visit https://toyotagazooracing.com/wec/release/2021/rd06-race/. Copyright 2021 JCN Newswire. All rights reserved. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing READY FOR DESERT DOUBLE

Toyota City, Japan, Oct 25, 2021 - (JCN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - Hypercar history will be written when the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) titles are decided in a Bahrain double-header, and four-time Le Mans winner TOYOTA GAZOO Racing is ready for a duel in the desert. For the first time in WEC history, races will be held on consecutive weekends at the same venue; on Saturday 30 October the 6 Hours of Bahrain, followed by the 8 Hours of Bahrain a week later.A 100% win record this season means TOYOTA GAZOO Racing travels to Bahrain in pole position to retain the World Championship. The team leads Alpine by 51 points, with a total of 65 on offer in the final races, meaning third place in the first Bahrain contest is enough to guarantee a third consecutive title. There is a three-way fight for the drivers' crown and the identity of the first Hypercar drivers' World Champions will be decided only in the final race of 2021, on Saturday 6 November.Following their emotional first Le Mans victory in August, the #7 GR010 HYBRID crew of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez head the standings as they attempt to defend the title they won in Bahrain last year.Sebastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Brendon Hartley, in the #8 GR010 HYBRID, are only nine points behind having also won two of the four races so far this season. Another two victories would guarantee them the title while the third-placed Alpine drivers are also in the championship challenge, trailing by 30 points.TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has a very strong record in Bahrain, having won five times from eight visits to the 15-turn, 5.412km Bahrain International Circuit, including three wins for its legendary TS050 HYBRID LMP1 car.The new GR010 HYBRID Hypercar will make its Bahrain debut in exactly the same specification as at Le Mans, when the team earned a one-two victory thanks to a strong team effort to overcome fuel pressure problems caused by contamination in the fuel cell. That issue has been addressed prior to Bahrain following extensive technical investigations.Koji Sato, GAZOO Racing Company President:"It is my pleasure to join the team for the final two races of the 2021 WEC season. Since Le Mans, I know the team has been working very hard to address the technical challenges we experienced and I am confident that we have developed appropriate countermeasures. The whole team is looking forward to Bahrain, where we want to deliver an exciting finale to the WEC season for all endurance fans. Having two races on consecutive weekends is a tough challenge for all drivers and teams but I know everyone at TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has prepared strongly for Bahrain and we will be ready. Reliability and performance are never guaranteed in endurance racing, especially with a new car, so the whole team is working hard to give both driver crews an equal chance at winning the World Championship."Mike Conway (GR010 HYBRID #7):"We are definitely pushing to win another championship in Bahrain but it's going to be tough; there are two events with 14 hours of racing still to go. I am sure it will come down to the second race and we will push hard to retain the title. It's been a great season so far, particularly with winning Le Mans, and it would be nice to top it off with the championship. Bahrain has been a strong circuit for me over the years, always a favourite, so lets' see what it brings this year."Kamui Kobayashi (GR010 HYBRID #7):"To finish the season with two races at the same circuit is new for WEC and it means everyone can expect an intense two weeks. Of course, it's the first time for us to drive with the GR010 HYBRID on this circuit so we need to focus on constantly improving the car balance so we are in good shape for both races. With Mike and Jose, and our engineers, we will work hard and give ourselves the best chance of winning the World Championship again."Jose Maria Lopez (GR010 HYBRID #7):"It's going to be special to fight for the title in back-to-back races, particularly coming from some amazing moments at Le Mans. It's most important for the team to win the title with a good first race, then we will see who deserves the drivers' championship. Whoever takes the crown will have really earned it. Car #8 is always strong competition for us; we fight on track but we are team-mates and friends so there is huge respect between all of us."Sebastien Buemi (GR010 HYBRID #8):"I am looking forward to a long stay in Bahrain; it's going to be good. We have been preparing in the simulator for this and we expect a tight fight with the sister car and the Alpine. We will need to adapt to the different conditions because the behaviour of the car changes quite a lot from day to night. The team has worked hard since Le Mans to understand a few issues and continuously improve the car and I will give my very, very best to fight for the championship until the end."Kazuki Nakajima (GR010 HYBRID #8):"I am sure it will be another close fight in Bahrain to end the season; our car has been very close with car #7 all season and it will be the same for the final two races. The margins have been very small so we have to look for every tiny improvement in the balance. I'm looking forward to the challenge. Bahrain is a great place for a race and it will be interesting to see how the track conditions change between the two races considering one is in the day, the other is at night. I expect this will have an impact so we need to be prepared for it."Brendon Hartley (GR010 HYBRID #8):"I am looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the GR010 HYBRID again after quite a long break. It feels like a long time since Le Mans. We go to Bahrain with all to play for in terms of the drivers' World Championship because the gap between the top three is pretty close. Bahrain normally produces good races and it's a nice circuit. We have prepared on the simulator but nothing will beat the real sensations of driving our Hypercar around the track." TOYOTA GAZOO Racing AIMS FOR LE MANS HYPERCAR HISTORY

Toyota City, Japan, Aug 13, 2021 - (JCN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - TOYOTA GAZOO Racing aims to defend its crown and make Hypercar history in the 89th running of the Le Mans 24 Hours next week.GR010 HYBRID #7 #8 challenging for 24 HOURS OF LE MANSFollowing a hat-trick of Le Mans victories with its TS050 HYBRID, this year the team competes with the new GR010 HYBRID Hypercar for the first time at the Circuit de la Sarthe and is determined to extend its winning run.Reigning World Champions Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez, in the #7 GR010 HYBRID, have endured heartbreak at Le Mans in recent years, particularly when mechanical issues denied them victory despite domination in 2019 and 2020. They go into the biggest race of the year following wins in the 6 Hours of Monza last month.Sebastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima, however, have enjoyed a remarkable run, winning at La Sarthe for three consecutive years, including last year's triumph alongside Brendon Hartley. The #8 GR010 HYBRID trio lead the drivers' standings following wins in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and 8 Hours of Portimao. With double FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) points on offer, Le Mans is significant in the battle for world titles. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing holds a 30-point advantage over Alpine following three of six WEC races, while the #8 crew lead the drivers' standings by just six points from their #7 team-mates.In addition to its quest for a fourth consecutive Le Mans win, the 2021 edition marks the 10th time Toyota has competed at La Sarthe with a hybrid-powered prototype. In the nine attempts so far, the team has won three times, earned five pole positions and finished on the podium a total of nine times. This year, it faces Hypercar competition from Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, which enters two cars, as well as Alpine, which participates with a grandfathered LMP1 car. But the challenge of Le Mans comes from the gruelling nature of the event itself as well as from on-track rivals. With around 25,000 gear changes, 4,000km at full throttle and over 2million wheel rotations in a typical race, Le Mans is a true test of endurance.Preparations for the challenge began back in October 2020 when the GR010 HYBRID tested for the first time and, since then, eight further tests have been used to optimise the car's performance and reliability, in addition to the three WEC races. The final step in that journey will come on Sunday, the only official test day at the 13.626km Circuit de la Sarthe. Two days of intense preparation lead into five hours of practice and a qualifying session on Wednesday. Thursday sees a further five hours of practice, either side of the 30-minute Hyperpole session at 9pm CEST, when TOYOTA GAZOO Racing will challenge for a fifth consecutive pole position. The 89th Le Mans 24 Hours will begin at 4pm CEST on Saturday, in front of a reduced-capacity crowd of 50,000, when 62 cars and 186 drivers follow in the footsteps of legends, adding their own stories to a race which first took place in 1923.Hisatake Murata, Team President:"It is always a great honour to participate at Le Mans and we are proud to return as three-time winners. We are putting all our effort into extending that winning run by becoming the first Hypercar Le Mans winners. The engineers and mechanics have been working closely with the drivers to fine-tune the car, always with the target of being strong in Le Mans. It will not be an easy task because we face a tough fight with our Hypercar competitors, and the GR010 HYBRID will participate at Le Mans for the first time, which is always a technical challenge. I am happy to welcome fans back to the circuit, particularly for this race where they create such a special atmosphere. Thank you to the ACO for working so hard to make this happen. I am sure this will be a Le Mans to remember for everyone."Mike Conway (GR010 HYBRID #7):"All the hard work during the year is for this race so I can't wait to get in the car and drive. Le Mans is a sprint race nowadays; we have to race as hard as we can for the complete 24 hours and control the race where possible. We know from experience that there are many factors which can come into play, and we've been unlucky in the past on the #7 car. But that doesn't change how we approach Le Mans as drivers. We will get our heads down and do all the preparation to be ready for the race, as we did in the past few years. Then we hope Le Mans is kind to us and we can finally get the win."Kamui Kobayashi (GR010 HYBRID #7):"I look forward to Le Mans every year; it is the highlight of the season and the motivation for all our effort. It's a great experience to drive at Le Mans, particularly in qualifying when you have new tyres and low fuel. I have achieved the pole position three times already but the big target is to win the race. We have been so strong in the past few years on car #7 but always something happened and we couldn't get to the end without trouble. So we need to avoid any issues this year and keep pushing for a perfect race. We are all staying focused and optimistic."Jose Maria Lopez (GR010 HYBRID #7):"We become stronger thanks to difficult moments and I believe that is the case for car #7 at Le Mans. Now we don't think about what has happened in the past; we look forward and try to always improve, as a team and as drivers. It is like a family with Mike, Kamui and me, as well as our engineers and mechanics, and we all have the same target: to win Le Mans. As a team I believe we are stronger than ever and we know what we need to do. It is never easy at Le Mans and for sure this year will be a hard one, but we will give maximum effort."Sebastien Buemi (GR010 HYBRID #8):"Le Mans is a special place and a special race for me. It's a part of my family and I remember hearing about my grandfather racing there in the 1960s. I remember visiting the Geneva Motor Show as a kid and getting my photo taken next to the Toyota TS020. Back then I could never imagine being here as a three-time winner. I am thankful to have the opportunity to fight for another victory but I know it will be a big challenge, with a new car and strong competitors. We know what it takes to win so we have to stick to our plan and make sure we avoid mistakes. Then we will see where we are on Sunday."Kazuki Nakajima (GR010 HYBRID #8):"The atmosphere at Le Mans is incredible. When I raced at Le Mans for the first time in 2012 I was amazed by the sound and the passion of the fans. We really missed that last year so I am very pleased that we will see spectators back again. Le Mans is the most challenging race in the world and, as we all know from experience, anything can happen. We are all pushing hard for the GR010 HYBRID to be the first Hypercar winner; we will be fully focused on our job and hoping that luck is on our side. We can take nothing for granted but we will give everything to be in the centre of the podium again."Brendon Hartley (GR010 HYBRID #8):"I fell in love with Le Mans from my first visit, which was a bit of a surprise to be honest. The atmosphere is incredible and I really enjoy the team element, everyone working together towards that one goal. All the mechanics and engineers make a super-human effort, the drivers all work together and share information. We have to work as one big team to be successful and that's what we've been doing to get our GR010 HYBRID ready for the biggest challenge. We all come to Le Mans dreaming of victory but there is a lot of hard work over the next days to give ourselves the best chance." Copyright 2021 JCN Newswire. All rights reserved. (via SEAPRWire)

MAGICAL MONZA FOR TOYOTA GAZOO Racing

TOKYO, Jul 19, 2021 - (JCN Newswire via SEAPRWire.com) - TOYOTA GAZOO Racing extended its 100% winning record with the new GR010 HYBRID Hypercar thanks to a hard-earned victory in an enthralling 6 Hours of Monza, the third round of the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez, in the #7 GR010 HYBRID overcame challenges and strong Hypercar competition to earn their first victory of 2021, beating the #36 Alpine by 60.908secs after 204 laps to end their run of misfortune this season.Sebastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Brendon Hartley saw their winning run come to an end due to technical issues on their #8 GR010 HYBRID. The Spa-Francorchamps 6 Hours and Portimao 8 Hours victors finished 33rd overall. With that result, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing extends its lead in the manufacturers' World Championship to 30 points over Alpine. Meanwhile the fight for the drivers' crown has tightened, with the #8 crew now leading by only six points from their #7 team-mates, the reigning champions. The race had look like being a close battle between the two GR010 HYBRIDs when Mike led the early stages in the pole-sitting #7, followed closely by Sebastien. Only a few seconds separated them during their first two stints but all that changed around 90 minutes into the race, just as Brendon took the wheel of the #8.A fuel pressure issue required a four-and-a-half-minute pit stop. After returning to the track in 21st position, further misfortune struck immediately when the front-left corner required replacement due to a damaged hub. That cost the #8 12 laps and any chance of victory.Jose built a lead over the chasing pack and, despite a safety car due to debris on the track, he held a 22secs lead at half distance. But the dramas continued for the sister car. Following another relatively brief trip to the garage, the team decided to change parts on the fuel system, a complex repair which cost 48 minutes. But it was not over yet as an exciting race took further twists after Kamui took over the wheel of the leading #7. With less than two hours to go, the car stopped on the side of the track when he an error message on the dashboard. Kamui performed a power cycle and resumed, having lost around a minute and the lead of the race to the #709 Glickenhaus. But that car only a few minutes in front though, before itself pitting for repairs. Kamui therefore led again until a puncture required a tyre change, setting up an exciting chase of the leading Alpine.Kamui cut into the advantage before handing over to Mike, who set the fastest lap of the race as he continued to hunt down the leader. A full course yellow with 34 minutes to go gave the #7 a chance to make its final fuel stop and secure the lead, which Mike held until the chequered flag.
The team will now investigate the technical issues in detail back at its Cologne base as it prepares for the biggest race of the season, the Le Mans 24 Hours on 21-22 August. Action starts at La Sarthe with the official test day on 15 August.Hisatake Murata, Team President"It has been a positive day for TOYOTA GAZOO Racing; congratulations to the #7 car and also our colleagues in the World Rally team for their victory in Rally Estonia. The first WEC race at Monza will be remembered as a particularly exciting one, and I am happy that we had fans in the grandstands again to enjoy it. The #7 crew showed true fighting spirit and they really deserve their first win of the season. It is frustrating to suffer issues with the #8 car; sorry for Sebastien, Kazuki and Brendon that they were not able to fight for another victory today. But thank you to the mechanics for never giving up and getting the car back on track; this required a big team effort. Our full focus switches to Le Mans now, where we will defend our title and aim to become the first Hypercar winner. There is a lot of hard work ahead for us to achieve that goal."Mike Conway (GR010 HYBRID #7)"It's great to get a win here in Monza because it's a great track and the fans were back as well. The car felt solid all weekend and, as the weekend went on, it just kept getting better. In the race I am happy with the pace we had; we were able to pull away when we had to. At the end it was a bit touch and go obviously with the problem that Kamui had and also the puncture, but it didn't change the result, it just made it a bit more interesting. To come home with our first win of the season is great. It's a pit for the #8 car, they had a bruising day, but I'm really happy with the job we did on our car."Kamui Kobayashi (GR010 HYBRID #7)"We were strong all weekend, as we have been in the first two races of the season. Obviously we had bad luck up until now, and even today we had some problems, but still we managed to win. I think this weekend shows we still need to work hard for Le Mans, because we can't have reliability problems there. I think the #7 car is really getting stronger and we are working well with the team, so I think we are going to have a big chance at Le Mans. For today I am very happy to have won in Monza and this momentum is very important going into the big race."Jose Maria Lopez (GR010 HYBRID #7)"This is endurance racing and things can happen and today pretty much everything happened. It was a crazy race, but we managed to bring the car home and win the race. It's not always the case that the quickest car wins but we had a very strong weekend and that is very motivating for Le Mans. To be fastest in all the sessions, take pole and win the race doesn't happen very often, but I am very proud of the job Kamui and Mike did as well. The whole team, the engineers and the mechanics have performed really well. It's been a tough race for the team overalls, but we will come back stronger for Le Mans."Sebastien Buemi (GR010 HYBRID #8)"That was a really difficult race for us but we did what we could. We were running comfortably in second place and quite close to car #7. Then we started to have issues; with the fuel system and then with the hub. In a six-hour race you cannot recover from problems like that; there was not much we could do. It's a tough one because we didn't score many points for the championship. I hope we got our problems out of the way and we won't have them in Le Mans."Kazuki Nakajima (GR010 HYBRID #8)"By the time I got in the car we had already lost so much time with the repairs, it was just a matter of getting the car safely to the chequered flag. Thanks to the mechanics for all their hard work to make sure we could finish the race and congratulations to car #7. They drove a great race and I am pleased for the team to win again. I hope for a smoother race in Le Mans."Brendon Hartley (GR010 HYBRID #8)"This was definitely not our day. But it is better we had a day like this here in Monza rather than at Le Mans. That is the one race of the year that we really want to win. We had a few issues with the fuel system which needed repairs, and then with the hub. We're still in the fight for the World Championship even though obviously we lost a lot of our points advantage, but that's motorsport, we know how it goes and we'll come back fighting at Le Mans."6 Hours of Monza results:1st #7 TOYOTA GAZOO Racing 204 laps2nd #36 Alpine (Negrao/Lapierre/Vaxivierre) +1min 0.908secs 3rd #22 United Autosports (Hanson/Scherer/Albuquerque) +4 laps4th #709 Glickenhaus (Dumas/Mailleux/Westbrook) +4 laps5th #31 Team WRT (Frijns/Habsburg/Milesi) +4 laps6th #28 Racing Team Nederland (v.Eerd/Chatin/de Vries) +4 laps33rd #8 TOYOTA GAZOO Racing +43 lapsFor more information, visit https://toyotagazooracing.com/wec/release/2021/rd03-race/.
